The hotel is a part of the Bipha Group which is a professionally managed company. The group was founded by Mr. K. Pappy Vaidyan, a gifted physician and Ayurvedic practitioner. The group took its step in the hospitality sector by opening Hotel Ambady, Thekkady in Kerala. The hotel was the first private sector Periyar resort and the first hotel in the state which introduced the concept of Heritage hotel. The hotel building was designed by world renowned architect Mr. Lauwrie Baker. The hotel name “Ambady” actually denotes the birth place of Lord Krishna, the mythical god in the great epic of India, Mahabharata. The core theme of this resort is based on the life of lord Krishna, the history and the myth. As you enter the domains of the hotel arena you are likely to find innumerable references to the life of Lord Krishna.
